About Us
Who We Are:
Behind the Line NOVA is a nonprofit community of first responders, their spouses and families who stand proudly behind our men and women in blue and an affiliate of the National Police Wives Association.
Mission:
To create a network of support to police officers and their families in the Northern Virginia region. Our desire is to work with local police departments to help create programs that will provide support and training for the police families.
In addition to our mission we hope to bridge the gap between our communities and police by implementing programs to benefit our local agencies and the surrounding community.
Our Story:
We were founded in the summer of 2020 when civil unrest broke out around the country. We decided we needed to come together to support our officers and their families. With help and guidance from our affiliate the National Police Wives Association we have fought against harmful legislation, help boost the morale of our officers on the line everyday, provide support for spouses and families of fallen officers and help communities during trying times across the nation.

I have been married to my husband since 2005 and knew him before he became an officer. I am passionate about homeschooling my 3 kids and volunteering at Hope & Serenity Farm Sanctuary.
At the age of 17 my dad was killed from the 9/11 terrorist attacks. At the time I never received any mental health services and entered adult hood during a very confusing time in my life. Years down the road I began experiencing heavy depression, anxiety and panic attacks due to my own trauma and had to seek out counseling. Due to my own life experiences, I had an interest in psychology and went on and obtained an Associate's Degree in Psychology with the desire to eventually help people.
During my husbands 16 year career as an officer his department has had many critical incidents and losses. These critical incidents and losses opened up my eyes to the very sensitive nature of the job and the toll it takes on the officers and their families.
My hope is to be able to help law enforcement families get the support they need during hardship and tragedies, to help significant others of officers build a strong foundation at home, and prevent depression, anxiety and PTSD from taking over another persons life.

Throughout my life I’ve heard many people say that nothing happens by chance, but that everything is ordained by God and is ultimately part of His plan. My life is not one I would have ever chosen, but now I can’t imagine anything better for my family. I met my husband in high school, where we were two out of seventeen students in our graduating class. One of the first things he told me was that when he grew up, he wanted to be a police officer because that was the closest thing to being a super hero. As a seventeen-year-old I didn’t fully understand the passion for law enforcement I saw in his eyes. Now, almost twenty-five years later, three kids and fifteen years into a twenty-five-year career that passion has changed, but the desire to change the world hasn’t.
I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in advertising/public relations and a minor in psychology. Over the years I’ve worked for multiple large corporations, non-profits and small businesses. It wasn’t until I began to homeschool my children and support my husband in his law enforcement career that I truly found my calling in life. My children and my husband are my passion and legacy. Our days our long, challenging at times, but at the end of the day I’m thankful for the time we have together.
I grew up in a military home, moving every three years and was exposed to different cultures, countries and experiences. Those years of being raised in the military culture better prepared me for the police life. Then 2020 came along and our world was shaken and we were tested beyond anything we’ve ever experienced. For the first time our police officers were no longer looked up to as heroes, but were questioned about every arrest, every stop and everything in between. In 2020, when the riots began to break out across our country, they began to come into our own community and directly impact my husband and his co-workers. One night when my oldest son turned to me, asking if Daddy was okay and if he was in harm’s way, I realized I didn’t have the answers and didn’t feel like I could emotionally support him when I myself didn’t feel supported. It was then that I began to ask questions and seek support. In doing so I realized there was a huge lack of support for the police families. While our men and women are standing on the front lines of cities across the country there are families at home waiting for their safe return. Where is their support? Who is lifting them up when an officer falls? Who is looking after their mental health? Who is providing them with the needed resources?
Out of the huge need for support for the police family, our group was founded. During the turmoil of 2020 Lynn and her family purchased the home right next door to my family. This was another indication to me that nothing happens by chance and God has had a plan all along. Lynn and I realized at that point that we were placed together for a reason and we had an amazing opportunity to work together and fight for our husbands and their co-workers. We’re so much stronger together! We came together and formed the Behind the Line NOVA community. We seek to fill the gap by supporting law enforcement families and we hope you join us.
